Agistment (Livery)
Why agistment (livery)? Well perhaps;
- Something unexpected has happened and you need someone to care for your Alpacas for a few weeks.
- You want to join this flourishing industry now but won’t have the land available for a while.
- You’ve been offered an exciting job/project for 6 months – leave your Alpacas with us.
- You only have a small amount of land, and want to separate your male crias, but don’t want to castrate them yet.

Agistment Charges
The basic weekly charge per Adult Alpaca, covers feed, basic care and
tasks such as Toe clipping and Top Knot trimming.
A discount is offered if you have several Alpacas at agistment with us.
Let us know what you have in mind and we’ll prepare a quotation.
All other Alpaca training and care is covered by individual charges.
This enables you to choose the level of care that you want us to
undertake. An all-inclusive package can be agreed if you prefer.
You are welcome to visit your Alpacas as often as you wish, although we
do like to know if you plan to visit and have a few “farm rules” that we
need you to follow for Health and Safety reasons.
We are willing to Halter train your Alpacas, have them sheared, arrange for them to go to stud and even show them for you.

Tops, Toes and In Between
Alpacas are sheared once a year. This means that they occasionally need
‘a hair cut.’ Trimming their ‘top knot’ to keep the fibre out of their
eyes is a simple task usually done with a small pair of hand shears.
Toenails need trimming two or three times a year. If your Alpacas are
kept on soft ground then they may need more regular attention perhaps
every two or three months. Clippers or a small pair of sheep foot rot
shears can be used to trim the eight toenails. We will show you how.
By injecting your Alpacas yourself, you get to know them well and cut down on costs. We can train you to administer routine injections but if in doubt, consult your vet.
Contact us about tailor made or small group husbandry courses.

Pregnancy Testing - Trans Abdominal Scanning
Quick and accurate scanning is available from Livanti's colleagues at Kennington Alpacas. Based not far from Junction 10 of the M40 at Duns Tew, Helen and Anne provide scanning within a 50-mile radius and at a mutually agreed appointment time.
The fee is made up of 3 aspects:
- Mileage at 40p per mile.
- An attendance fee of £30 no matter how many alpacas you have scanned.
- A fee of £2 per alpaca scanned.
Example
If you live 30 miles from Duns Tew the mileage would be a 60 mile round trip costing £24.
If you have the following number of alpacas scanned, then the cost would be £24 Plus:
| 3 Alpacas would cost | 30+ 6 | = £36 (Total = 24+36 = £60) | Plus VAT |
| 8 Alpacas would cost | 30+16 | = £46 (Total = 24+46 = £70) | Plus VAT |
| 15 Alpacas would cost | 30+30 | = £60 (Total = 24+60 = £84) | Plus VAT |
| 25 Alpacas would cost | 30+50 | = £80 (Total = 24+80 = £104) | Plus VAT |
